We all know that adamantine is the best metal so far, usually because of it's ease of access and high qualities.

But what if there was there was an even higher quality of metal that was rare and hard to get without going to extra lengths to get it?

This kind of already exists, not the specific metals described or any way to craft them but

The game actually does have randomly generated divine metals, they are found in a structure called the vault which has randomly generated "angles" that wield weapons and armors made from these metals, they are almost impossible to access in fortress mode and are mostly a adventure mode thing but (I believe) they can be melted down and reforged into new gear if you do somehow manage to gain access to some in fortress mode, they might not technically be better then adamantine per say but they are roughly on par and are the only metals immune to dragon fire so that's kind of cool

Divine metal is roughly on par with steel, divine being a bit better for edge weapons but a bit worse for armor. See the last table on this wiki page, mainly the Sword adj. and min M columns.
