Our bookkeeper has been gone for at least 20 years and the nobles screen will not allow a replacement.
It would be nice to get a new bookkeeper after all these years of uncertain inventory levels.

I wanted to use DFHack's "devel/kill-hf" command but I don't know how to find the dwarf's histfig_id

i recently ran into this same issue when one of my dwarves fell down a volcano. instead of recording them as 'dead' the status was merely 'traveling'. I did not find a solution..

if you save - copy save - abandon, enter legends mode then use the command 'exportlegends info' via DFhack you might be able to source the histfig?
