The nobles, the mountainhome, but was it worth it?

See, one problem with becoming the mountain home in the current version, is that there is no mechanically helpful upgrade for achieving it.
In fact, in 47.0 it's actually more of a penalty because you lose the ability to ask for goods from the trade caravan.

These nobles... don't seem to actually perform any mechanical function. If they do, it's invisible to the player, or, hidden behind unlocks that I never see in my forts.

this is a game! achievements should be both intrinsic, and extrinsic rewards!

Becoming the mountainhome should provide a tangible benefit. Of course, migrants would come with everything the player has achieved, and thus might not be the most fulfilling thing.
Bigger trade caravans are interesting and would be a step up. Of course... the trade caravans aren't really that important by the time a fortress is prosperous to become a barony.

but my suggestion is that the fortress is given access to extra troops. aka, what if you could now send an army of 20 dwarves and have their numbers (though probably not their strength) multiplied fourfold, through contacts in your civilization.

or even to send for backup when the goblins are on the map!

It needs to get reworked the whole relationship with the outside world imo, with it getting more complex and cooler and the status improve.

For like all the outside stuff, like caravans, visitors and diplomacy.

ATM you get a new caravan from a site if you send a messenger to deband tribute (because it established contact.)

So a lousy fort of 10 dwarves can be the biggest trade hub in the world but a huge Mountainhome will get the same number of caravans if the player doesn't know the trick.

It should have like a tier system with added options for each tiers. Like

Tier 1 - For visitors you can just accept or not who randomly shows up.

Tier 2 - You can also invite 4 people/year and they accept 50/50. (Like send a messenger to "invite legendary musician.

Tier 3 - You can ORDER 2 people/year in yout civ to move to your Mountainhome. The king bids you to come!

Same for caravans and everything.

Messengers:

Tier 1 - You can only raid coverly.

Tier 2 - You can raid openly/attack openly.

Tier 3 - You get to conquer other sites.

More involvement with the outside world would be way cool. Perhaps an almost feudal system, where you get more trade, but are also expected to provide for the other settlements. Perhaps a new noble screen kinda thing, with demands, and benefits.

Imagine if you could ensure military victories for the other settlements by exporting nice weapons.

More reports from the other settlements, rumors, and stuff would be really cool!
