equiping weapons and shields?

I cant seem to find in the wiki how to equip better weapons or shield, W only allows armour.

It's a bit convoluted at the moment, press R to get them into your hands, then drop the old or put them into your (P)ack.

There isn't an 'equip weapons' key. You have to drop and pick up until you have each weapon/shield in the correct hand.
