Dwarf Necromancer constantly raising fallen invaders problem
« on: October 28, 2021, 09:40:43 am »

As in topic, I have a dwarf necromancer, and really wanted to keep him in the army. Only problem is he keeps raising whoever the army kills. Is there any workaround or tweak that fixes this?

No, this is just a side-effect of having a necromancer, AFAIK. Much like vampires eating people and were-dwarves...also eating people - necromancers just sort of do that. Without them doing that, there's no downside - you've just got an immortal dwarf to do whatever you want with.

No
The basic scripting for necromancers in fortress mode is to raise the undead anytime they enter combat

Effective for when they're your enemy, but when they are citizens its a problem
especially since the undead they raise are also hostile to them and so they're just endangering themselves even more

"I can do this.  I've got it this time.  I'll show them all that I can make friendly undead!"

"Ruaargch...BLOOOD!!!!"

"Damnit.  Ok, maybe if I try performing the 4th gesture with my...right hand?"

Foolprooof way to penetrate aquifers of unlimited depth.  (Make sure to import at least 10 stones for mechanisms)
Toughen Dwarves by dropping stuff on them.  (Nothing too heavy though, and make sure to wear armor.)
