Mission Status

A future is a precious thing, so until then look forward with your feet pointed toward Dwarf Fortress and keep stepping.  As the door is held wide open for the new kids, juniors and seniors shouldn't pass the opportunity by.  Take another look.  Maybe there is something in there you haven't seen, hiding behind the complexities that got in the way of themselves.  Open your eyes and you will see Dwarf Fortress staring back at you!

Do any of you remember the "military screen"?  It is perhaps the most powerful tool in the most complex management game ever devised.  It is also the most obtuse part of the UI in Dwarf Fortress.  After a month of intense rearrangement, the beast has been felled at last, for the world to see.  This was for you, old timer!  None of the n00bs even know what I'm talking about!  There is nothing in the way of the UI release that is as remotely challenging.  We are on our way now, and nothing will stop us.

Fun with Numbers

Thanks again for another great month as we head out toward the end of 2021!  For the next batch of updates, we're going to be looking at the opening sequence, from the embark map selection screen back through world generation and the save/load structure.  All fundamental stuff that needs to be made much, much friendlier.  The infamous UMKH to resize embark rectangles - can it be defeated?!
