Since this is a meat grinder I say we send all the newbs except the doctor in first, then we go in and find whatever seems to be the best cover to hide behind.

3: You successfully order the newbs in first.  They let you cozy in next to them behind a recently flipped over table.

reattach arm.  let npcs go first, but throw a smoke gerenade as cover if, and only if, they really really really need it.

4: Nah, they don't need a smoke grenade! None of them are dead yet.

After Jhon finish collecting the paper he still feels unsatisfied, sure the paperwork is stacked into neat piles. However, all the words are illegible squiggles making it all but impossible to sort the documents, Still, Jhon is quite familiar with his current predicament remembering the long and sleepless nights trying to decipher his coworker's overly ornate fonts. After countless nights of this near-impossible task, Jhon come to the realisation that he could use the layout of the document to sort paperwork instead of its contents. So with this knowledge in mind, Jhon continues sorting that paperwork with renewed vigour to prove to the universe once and for all that the ISO standard requisition form layout transcends languages and species.

2: No progress but no damage from paperwork.

Through the double doors leading out of the Cargo Bay, those not in the Cafeteria see a large room filled with tables and chairs.  On the opposing wall, several aliens are shooting over counters and through a doorway.  You hear screaming: "No Food For You, Humans!"

1: Uh oh, you said that out loud, only you inadvertently ended the sentence with "Humans" instead of "Aliens".  The NPC soldiers shoot you dead, then return to battle.
Roll up a new character please!

6: An effective tactic!  You and your NPC squad mates rush the Kitchen and clear it out of Alien Scum!

The kitchen is full of smoke!  In addition to the archway dividing the Kitchen and the Cafeteria, there are three doors leaving the Kitchen. There are double doors leaving the Cafeteria in addition to the large doors leading back to the Cargo Area.

The NPC soldiers are securing the area and awaiting further orders.
RNG = 2, which I'm calculating as one casualty in the NPC squad during the most recent action.  8 regular soldiers and 1 medic remaining in NPC Squad.
