Cloak is a critical item in higher difficulties, more than once I've seen rooms that are literally impossible to get through without it.  Picking Decker is a good way to eliminate some of the RNG.  It may be just my luck I got internationale in like my third mission of my experienced difficulty run.  Decker's augment is certainly underwhelming though.  If it were ranged it'd be stronk.

Banks is still my favorite though.  Free security doors is huge.
As someone who plays on higher difficulties, the cloak is a luxury item and no room is impossible.  There's always a way.

No dude, I've seen impossible rooms.  The worst one I remember was in a K&O facility, a very long open room with no cover and multiple stationary guards, including one armor 2 enforcer, plus a turret.  This room was a chokepoint cutting off access to both the elevator and the objective.  The way we came in was on one side and all other exits to the room were at least halfway across the other.  There was literally no way to cross the room without aggroing multiple guards and the turret, and hacking the turret itself only took out one guard before they shot it.  There was no way across without cloak.  Ping or a similar ability would've worked too but if cloak is luxury so is ping so shush.
Sprint>Take one step>Cancel Sprint.  Poor man's ping.

Alternate plan, shoot (or failing that, KO) a guard, drop their body in front of the door, open door, guards will become alerted and then leave.  Eventually.

I have to say: this game is awesome. A novel twist in the genre of xcomesque games. In many ways I like it better than EU2012. I think that for the next few weeks I'll remain hooked to this alongside openxcom.

So, there's some new stuff coming to this game.

The devs are adding a bunch of new programs, two of which are starting programs, in a free update.  I'm pretty excited for this as there are only so many useful hacking builds possible in the current one.  Basically just "slow" builds with parasite or seed and "fast" builds with fusion, and then a few supporting programs.  Hopefully we'll see something new; maybe even a build which focuses on affecting the physical world the way that wisp and ping currently let you do to a small degree.  This update is supposed to drop today, presumably it will come later today or its been pushed back a bit.  This update will also add extra mission specific rooms for variety and fix some bugs/exploits.

Originally there was going to be a DLC which would add some of Central and Monst3r's old war buddies in as playable characters.  However they've listened to the fans who want morrrrrrrrre and are expanding it into a DLC called Contingency Plan.  Judging by the name and the content description in the link above, it sounds like they're going to let us play past the ending.  Those of you who know what the ending is will understand why this is wonderful.  I'm also hoping the extra lategame content will keep extended interesting for longer.  Right now extended basically bottoms out around day 5-7 as you see all the corps have to offer and get your own array of OP items.  Which by the way it looks like they're nerfing cloaking rig III.

Edit: Also Prism and Sharp are getting archive variants.  Prism will *finally* be able to actually do what her description suggests she can do.

I find it funny how this game is more Shadowrun then the actual Shadowrun Returns series.

I mean add magic, trolls, and spirits and BOOM!!! this is Shadowrun.

Incognita rebooting. Updating...

Hi all! This thread had died a while ago. Let me summarise the most exciting happenings of the past years, including links for further reading.

  • DLC "Contingency Plan" released. More lore. New agents. New story mission. Very cool and good.
  • PvP event "Backstab Protocols" took place. A tournament where each contestant can give instructions for one agent, and the goal is to get all the other agents captured or killed.
  • Mods going steady. The afforementioned DLC does not compare to the sheer amount of content available on the Steam Workshop. There are more big buns in the oven and being worked on as we speak (well, as I type).
  • Fanart archive created. A central hub for finding drawings, mashups, crossovers, and cosplay. Again, it keeps growing steadily.
  • Official Klei Discord Server. There has been an inofficial Invisible Inc discord server since Early Access, but Klei recently made an official catch-all server. Invisible Inc only has one channel because official development discontinued. Nevertheless a good place to ask anything or share screenshots of intense missions.

Feel free to ask about any of this. I'll do my best to give a thorough answer!

However, I also come here with a question: Are there any characters you'd like to see as agents? I'm a modder and while I am no good at making the visuals, I enjoy getting cool new game mechanics to work. (Typically, agents have a unique augment = passive perk, or a unique item = active ability)

An obvious agent candidate is Urist. Maybe he could set up an atom smasher trap? :)

Someone who is more effective the fewer agents you have. A lot of the gameplay seems based around getting up to the max number of agents as fast as possible (so you can have more actions, and keep more enemies pinned down), so someone who starts great then gets worse the more agents you have would be interesting.

or after 2 turns he drops a sock where he stands, and the furthest away enemy paths to it to pick it up... once picked up he drops another next turn.
but that is probably not an advantage haha

I like the idea, - but combined with the enemy being tagged.
Having an ability to (slowly) auto tag enemies out of sight would in itself be too powerful, but combined with the mostly disadvantage, that the enemy will move to your current position I think it could work.

Sorry for the long silence (over a month, yikes)

Urist is Real.

Thanks to these two suggestions!

I also made him able to dig.  Yeah. He can mine straight through concrete walls. How's that for a dwarf?

I made a technical proof of concept for that, a "weeping angel" who is extremely powerful when unseen (including friendly agents and cameras). The mod has no artwork or writing yet, and balance is still on the table too, but here's the prototype if you want to boot it up (i think that's the latest version, on the public Discord chat): https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/313015598789427202/851189369095979008/passiveUnseenpeekabooAgent.zip

Let me know what you think!

oh god i am in the credits of something XD hahaha
it is amazing that you managed to make that dorf... i hope people try him out in their games.

-----------------------------
random ideas for the weeping angel:
maybe its a girl with a crying mask on her face?
maybe she gets +1 movement if she is not seen and -1 if something sees/spots her?
maybe if she gets spotted she turns into her self and gets better at hacking things? as if to escape from the physical world into the hacking space or so? maybe can teleport to something she can access in hackmode? (with some limitation that you cant just teleport whereever...)
or she could have 2 different "states" like day/night" if she is hidden she is in nightmode with some sort of buffs (the +1 movement?)... and if she gets spotted she turns into daymode with different buffs? (some +1 to hacking ?)
maybe some bonus if she can see a guard, but the guard cant see her? (the weeping angel thing of going after someone from behind?)

but then again you already got a prototype :D with the whole "better the less people are around" or so... but who knows could be another character maybe.
