In my last fortress, it came to me it would be extremely helpful to be able to have the ability to sort stockpiles by applied colour and have the ability to priortize stockpiles.

Why would these be helpful ?

1. Prioritization
I guess this is somewhat self-explaining, but it would make a lot of stockpiles work better if we had the ability to tell which ones to be filled first. It is obviously similar to having links, but I believe it would work better, as prioritization isn't as restrictive and also would need less steps for dwarves. Instead of having feeder stockpiles for others, dwarves could simply be told "Fill this one first, then the others. No need to drag stuff to the feeder and then to the target stockpile.
This should be an option analog to the "number of wheelbarrows" - setting.

2.Colour sorting.
This one coud be extremely powerful.
Lets say you have two hundred bags. Now try to distribute them evenly for different jobs like collecting sand, milling flour and whatever needs bags.
Being able to have Stockpiles only have one colour of bags (or non-coloured) ? Easy peasy distribution. Have uncoloured bags for sand, blue ones for your flour and so on.
This should be a new category in the stockpiles menu analog to quality levels.

In my view, both options would be a game changer how stockpiles can be used.  8)
