I just love customizing companions
« on: March 28, 2011, 04:40:45 pm »

Ever done this before?

It really can be a blast, giving your allies nicknames and changing their job name as well.

I change the occupation name of all my companions to "Meatshield."
Then I usually give them some wierd nickname in the hopes that they'll use it and people will think their parents were very interesting.

Any better ideas for names and such?

Dwarf Fortress: You have a team of hundreds working for four years to make a game where you save the world again. We have one guy for four years make a near-infinite world generator, write the physics, generate histories, form detailed descriptions of every human, elf, dwarf, and goblin generated, caverns, and huge randomly generated monsters made out of who knows what. You. guys. suck.

I give them nicknames if they survive their first battles. I give them really random job titles so I can distinguish who's doing what.

Haha yeah it took me a while to figure this out. The first time I played I ended up with 3 spearmen and a peasant, and we got into a fight with a bunch of bandit spearmen. Didn't know who was who.

Nowadays I at the very least add a number to everyone's profession.

Sometimes it bounces off of cloth, and sometimes it ends up hitting with the effective mass of an aircraft carrier. YMMV, to say the least.
