The tag of MINING_UNDERWORLD_DISASTERS added back in 47.02 was great idea for preventing the silliness where the emerging civ dug deep themselves.

Spoiler: Current restrictions (click to show/hide)
At first glance, it is very immersive.

However, modding wise it is pretty restrictive to using it. Adding the tag to other civs does very little.

As such, it brings to mind a suggestion:  Allow any civ with MINING_UNDERWORLD_DISASTERS tag and MINER profession to cause the disaster on their market sites.

Negatives:
• Dwarven mountain halls are not markets and as such will not be eligible for it, making the event somewhat less common in mid+ history.
• Doesn't simulate digging into adamantine as much.

Positives:
• Dwarven civs can have disasters occur in 2, 1 or 0 cavern worlds.
• Adding the tag on civs without CAVE_DETAILED site type + Mountain biome will regularly do something, whether the target is dwarves who build hamlets or a more complete overhaul mods.

Not sure the positives outweight the negatives, but it's an idea until we get custom sitemaps.

Maybe its a little divergent, but why not have the production centre for mines attached to the job be tied to a steadily progressing place? I thought it already connected to mining, but also currently in the code it manifests who have "deep layers" that grant them access to things like cavern beasts with a underground and aboveground presence also means they can be invaded when you apply the tag onto Dark Fortresses.

Quote
Dehur kjol (deep mine in dwarvish i just wanted a quick name) was a mine of the human City, it produces mainly silver nuggets & gold nuggets

Quote
In 67 the mine Dehur kjol was founded
In 67 (miner of note) discovered silver nuggets
In 124 miners began excavating a new deeper level
In 136 excavation finished and the caverns were breached
in 136 (miner of note) discovered gold nugget veins
in 140 for fear of superstition amongst miners, mineshaft supervisor (monarch's appointee advisor) prohibited future exploratory mining

- Cue monster attacks, monster hunters residency and open passageway for tribal under-tribes to occupy the city sewers once mines make certain checkpoints.

- If a site is already underground, a mine might outstrech outwards or appear as a few quarries, ofc air-quarries to collect clay wouldnt be out of the question.

The underground mining disasters then could be forboding that the entity in question has a particularly aggressive and short-term exploratory mining strategy (like the player) for speed, and if they manage to stabilize the clown horde, they will gain access to a mine that has quantities of this material but can only collect yearly (something to balance it out at least in a respect)
