hostage situation

So... I sent a bunch of archers to fight elves (I was bored) and they got captured.

I have since trained a small militia of hammerdwarves (not very good ones, however) and am wondering if it would be worth it to try to recapture them. I did try a few times, in other games, but I think the prisoner system may be a bit buggy, as I have yet to sucessfully take any dwarves back.

If anyone wants I can upload the save.

Actually, was thinking of a different save, but I believe I did a similar thing as the save I mentioned.
