I can't seem to get my farmers to plant seeds. I've done it before, I don't see what the problem is.

- flooded area to make mud
- set up farm plot
- set it to make plump helmets every season

But the farmer just sits there saying No Job. In the job list, there is nothing there regarding planting seeds. Did I forget to do something?

First thing that comes to mind is under the job menu on your farmer dwarf "c,p,l" is 'farming (fields)' highlighted as a doable job?

Second thing to check would be the doors leading to the farm plot. Are they unlocked?

My problem was always remembering to designate the fields every new season, but you say you've done that already...

Perhaps the seed are task-queued for hauling?

Seemed to fix itself. I just waited a while, and eventually the planet seed jobs showed up. Go figure.
