is there a way to have NO NECROMANCERS in your world?
« on: July 26, 2020, 10:44:28 pm »

Hey, just a question for those who know a bit about world gen manipulation.

During adv world gen parameters, i changed the secret to 0 and yet after 300 years, i still have necromancer towers.

I also made sure to have 0 demon types therefore no goblins and somehow i have over 20 necromancer towers after 300 years end.

Is there a way to remove necromancer towers?

Huh, that's interesting. Let me have a look....Aha, as I expected mummies are at fault. Setting both secrets and disturbance interactions to 0 seems to fix it, based off 1 worldgen for 300 years (not much of a proof, admittedly, but cba to gen longer).

Wait, so mummies can build towers? Presumably because they can raise the dead and therefore get the required labor?
Which would mean that tower-building isn't restricted to I_SOURCE:SECRET-type interactions, as I thought it might, but is available to anyone with a I_EFFECT:ANIMATE power?

If so, good to know.

That's actually super interesting, I've never seen a mummy with a tower.

Any chance you could post a screenshot of a mummy owning a tower?

I did some testing of my own, and sure enough it works:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I only ran the world until 400, so I don't know if the mummy would have gotten up to any world-ending shenanigans like necros - but I don't see why not.

Dari actually had an interesting life (or afterlife). She was born in 97, and fought many battles for the Empire of Enchantment before being made general in 167. When she died she was entombed, and rested peacefully until 225 when she came back for vengeance, under the assumed identity of "The Unique Time". Her vengeance didn't last long, though: she was captured by some goblins and imprisoned for thirty years. She escaped in 283 and headed back to her old home, Omenmoor, where she became, of all things, a tavern keeper. She worked there until she was made "harvest caretaker" in 296, and promptly started embezzling funds from the government for some goblin cronies. She even threatened the local baron into accepting bribes for leniency - which he wisely accepted, being "too afraid not to comply." But at last, in 343 she aroused suspicion by "appearing not to age" and fled into the prairies, where she eventually built her tower.

I

i mean

There's just so much there to address.

She came back from the dead as an unliving mummy for vengeance but got sidetracked into being an embezzling bartender, which noone thought was strange until the MUMMY BARTENDER din't age.

I feel like being captured and then escaping can cause creatures to reenter society when they're really not supposed to. That doesn't seem quite working as intended, but it's a cool story nonetheless.

Yeah, I believe mummies are supposed to be OPPOSED_TO_LIFE, so Dari should have just killed everyone who walked into the bar - but I guess that'd be bad for business.
