Possible training facility using captured necromancer?
« on: August 06, 2020, 05:54:56 am »

So during one of the undead sieges I managed to capture an enemy necromancer with cage trap. I know that necromancers can revive corpses creating undead. Is it possible to make an effective training facility using this mechanic?

For example:
1. I lock the necromancer somewhere and administer him some corpses.
2. He raises them.
3. My dwarves fight them (without killing their creator) and gain weapon/armor/shield exp.
4. The cycle repeats forever?

No...

- Necros only raise corpses when threatened. Getting necros to feel threatened is tricky (I tried using a captured gobbo as a menace, and it only worked very occasionally).
- Re-killed corpses (or bits thereof) can only be reanimated provided they have grasp or head (bite?), with pulping preventing them from being raised. Fighting the undead will eventually damage the corpses beyond raising (and "eventually" may well happen rather quickly).
