I don't understand the reason behind the "uh/km" controls. To me it only makes building more tedious.
Excuse me, if it has been mentioned before, but i didn't find anything on this topic.

Adventurer mode building was introduced several years into development and therefore benefits from the wisdom of age.
UI is being overhauled in the current development arc. Things like this are likely candidates to be worked on (but not everyone's requests will be met).

Although, Adventurer manages to abstract away any logical worker/building-block positioning logic, scaffold building, etc by cutting to "several hours later...". Can't do that in Fortress.
