Socialize! How to snap a dwarf out of it?
« on: May 15, 2020, 12:48:51 pm »

So in my new fort, I just designated my second guild hall from a table.
The first one is a craft guild with actual members, this one is a ranger guild with no members.
Now ever since I created it, my planter is standing in it with a cyan socializing! job.
There have been dwarves with green socializing standing next to her, but she won't lose the job.
She hasn't snapped out of it except to drink and sleep, after which she heads back to it.
How do fix?

You wait until the socializing need is reduced from critical levels to normal ones and assign you important job to someone else in the meantime (and then try to give the dorf some down time to take care of the needs before they rise to critical levels in the future).

I assume it's possible to hack the need level, but I don't know if there's a script for it, nor do I know the details of exactly what you'd need to hack.

dfhack fillneeds while creature is targeted will change action from purple to green. After that creature will perform duties again.

If you do not want to hack, remove duties from other dwarves so they spend a lot of time socializing too. Eventually the dwarf will snap out of it, probably having a purple prayer need by then.

To immediately pull Dwarf from "Socialize!" you need to draft them to a squad, which is put on station, away from tavern zone. Then you can drop draft and they will pick a job or a need to fulfill.

Did you research dorf in its bed. Does that one have a flatmate? Kinky dorf that one? 5mo, and he is alrdy feeling love pain. Betcha its a romance with same, and romance with other, orientation.  Higher need to SOCIALIZE, if no desire to marry, possibly. If you go the way of dfHack, try romance with neither, except nobility.
