Bug or Feature? (Small pet animal combat)
« on: March 24, 2020, 08:40:58 am »

One could say I'm fairly new to Dwarf Fortress, even though I got used to many strange things already, but I had a pet bunny attacking a giantess, recently.

The bunny bit the giantess in the head several times and even shook her around!
Other pets (like buffalos and horses) fled in terror, but not this little bunny...

So I'm asking: Is this a bug, a feature, or even a Monty Python reference?

Whatever it is... I love this game. :D

Creatures that feel cornered have always attacked. Also things have randomly generated recklessness bravery scores which determine whether they'll fight or flee.

So perhaps it was a particularly fearless bunny.

Quote from: Chesterton
For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.
