Dwarves don't open hatch cover to dump item anymore

Instead they dump the item onto the closed hatch cover. Is this feature changed or do I misremember?

Try setting the dump in the tile next to the hatch - that might do it.

Yeah I now recall that trick. But they still dump the items onto the hatch cover. Maybe that's not a feature anymore.

I believe you misremember.

If you're trying to block miasma, you can add walls in the cardinal directions (miasma can't travel diagonally, but dwarves can dump items diagonally).

Just add a lever to the hatch and flip it on occation would be the easiest fix.
