I've been messing around in the new version lately and tinkering with the tools as they get updated. But there is one thing that I haven't been able to find, a good way to easily view the fortress stocks. To quickly check which metal bars I have while ordering weapons or armour, that sort of thing.
Not even sure if there is such a program, but I figured if we can make something dwarf-therapist then a easy view clicks stock viewer should be possible.
Anyone know if there is one? And if not which things should I look into before starting to program one?

DFHack has an advanced stocks interface which allows you to search, filter  and mass designate items (for dumping, melting, etc.). By default, you can access it by opening the vanilla stocks interface (z -> Stocks) and pressing e. There is a thread for it here.
