How to claim mount in adventure mode?

I got myself a waterbuffallo at the start of the game but I haven't figured out how to ride it yet, toady says that we can ride our claimed mounts by pressing "h" near 'em but I only can lead them it seems, is it because I haven't claimed him as my mount? If so how do I claim it? Or maybe water buffallos aren't ridable

Yep. I checked the water buffalo raws, they don't have the [MOUNT] tag.

I'll compile a list of mountable creatures on the wiki's Mount article, check it out soon.
