Dwarves taking forever to build a water wheel (construction inactive)

Is there anything I can do to speed this up, besides assigning more dwarves to carpentry?

Update: they built it IMMEDIATELY after I posted this question...

Well, suspending all other carpentry jobs ensures the next available carpenter will address the water wheel (don't remember if there's an Architect step involved too as my carpenters are also architects). Obviously, you also need to ensure the carpenters don't have any other jobs assigned (such as hauling). If your sole carpenter is busy Socializing! you need to assign carpentry to another dorf.
