Chief Medical Dwarf/PAtience drapped in Traction Diagnosis
« on: August 13, 2019, 10:50:39 am »

For several years now, every time I activate my hospital a long-ago injured minor dwarf reports in and is moved too a traction bench, at which point the chief medical dwarf arrives to diagnosis. And then diagnosis him. And then diagnosis him, and then does it again. And again. And again. It was a great way to make him a Legendary diagnostician in the course of a few minutes, but the dwarf never gets diagnosed, and the cycle doesn't stop until I remove all the Traction Benches - at which case the Dwarf goes to rest in a bed forever, so I end up having to deactivate the hospital in order to get my CMD and my miner back.

Any way I can end this recurring diagnosis loop?

Normally a patient would be put on a table for diagnosis. Does your hospital have those? Are all tables in library or dining hall in use and are there no free tables in your hospital?

Or maybe you did a mass-dump on the used cloth and stitches and the beds got forbidden after that?

If you have free, usable tables in your hospital, I do not know what is going on.

I don't think it's exactly the same thing you're encountering, but I had a similar issue where an injured dwarf stayed in the hospital for years, being repeatedly diagnosed with no treatment.  The problem in my case is that I didn't have all of the doctoring labors enabled, and bone doctoring was needed to treat the dwarf.  There's no indication if a dwarf needs treatment that no doctor can provide.

Might be worth double checking to make sure that's not the problem.

It's a known bug. You might try healing the problematic dwarf with DFHack, or just expel him.

Thank you. Seems like the problem resolved itself when the minor got injured again after a small fall.
