How effective of an were-creature extermination could be achieved on an adventure-mode game?

I like the idea of were-creatures but i'd like to exterminate most of them. I read they generate by toppling statues, and I guess other ways so 100% isn't gonna happen.

What are some good strategies? Could I kill the god who cursed the were-creatures to free them or something like that? How can I find info to hunt them? Do were-creatures target players forts? And if so does the amount of were-creatures in the game effect the frequency of attacks or does the game decide it's time for an attack and pulls a chosen were-creature from nearby to attack?

I ask those questions because if number of were-creatures in game wouldn't change the attack rate it's not useful for fort-mode. I like the world I generated but I'd like to help it become were-creature free or as close as I can.

1. Not very
2. Don't attempt
3. You cannot kill gods yet
4. Ask NPCs for information... I think it shows up in the normal menu for threats to the NPC's living area... Alternatively, you might learn something from reading engraving and books and stuff, although you might have to create a fort and engrave for that to happen
5. Yes, although I don't know if werebeasts are historical always or not
6. No idea, although I would guess they have to travel to your fort or through it to somewhere else like most things do now

You can greatly simplify your tasks by planning your worldgen appropriately. You can ensure they're less common compared to vampires, and that you don't have quite so many to kill by using a world with less long-standing temples.

You might find a separate copy of the world to look at with legends mode export and embark-assistant helpful to locate the lairs of werecreatures for your adventure mode game. Even then, they're under 1 hatch in the gound typically, so still somewhat difficult to find.

Werecreatures apparently live in lairs except at the full moon where they go off rampaging.  I have never found a werecreature's lair before.  I'm not sure they are actually modelled in adventure mode.  They should be easy to identify if they exist: a lair without any of the usual creatures in it -- just dwarf/elf/human/whatever.

I've stumbled on quite a few were-lairs. They're more or less like animal lairs, but there's just some sort of peasant inside.
