Copying Slabs

I am trying to get my fortress to learn secrets that i modded in. i have a slab for one secret but im not sure how to get my fortress to copy it, or even read it. i tried building it in the library but that didnt work .

My understanding is that dorfs neither read nor copy slabs.

The text needs to be on paper in fortress mode.

You either need to steal a book containing the secrets from a wizard tower or read the slab with an adventurer and then write a manual. The latter method is not guaranteed to produce a secrets book, so better bring a couple of empty quires or scrolls.

In this form the secrets can be read and copied by dwarves. Maybe you can make an entire economy from selling books with the secrets of life ;-)
