It occurs to me that despite general agreement on it, the plan in question does not appear to include the gauntlet loadout.

Well you see you're getting confused. He posted a Force Recon plan and Force Reconnaissance loadout and he also posted "A Very Mad Man's Very Mad Plan" but that was edited in and in a spoiler (cause of length) where the plans and loadout suggestions he posted were in quotes. Which in no way could be confusing at all. But yes the "A Very Mad Man's Very Mad Plan" has the gauntlet loadout in it where as the force recon plan doesn't.

That is an issue, now that you mention it. It’d be good if Madman could remove/spoiler the other plan, to avoid confusion.

...is it REALLY that confusing to mention in unspoilered text that the plan is in a spoiler, to label the spoiler with the name of the plan, and note that it's only in a spoiler due to the length of plan?

Ah, I see it now, but yes. It was in fact rather confusing.

Someone was confused by it. That's empirical evidence that yes, it is confusing.
I mean, eS wasn't confused, so it's not an issue, but a less attentive GM could've absolutely clicked the link in the votebox, glanced at the post, seen only one plan, copied the plan to their text editor of choice and closed the post.
