(solved)Refuse stockpile bugged?
« on: March 10, 2019, 04:24:03 am »

Unless I build workshop and butchery near them, the dwarves won't use anything from them, even if the pile is less than 10 tiles away from them.

What do I do?

The question is somewhat unclear, so a clear answer is hard to provide (and "something isn't working as expected" questions are always hard, as there are typically a lot of reasons for why things don't work).

- Burrows?
- Workshop burrows?
- Pathing?
- Job allocation?
- Workshops available to perform "anything" in (including profiles that would keep those qualified out)?
- 'o'ptions settings?
- I'm not aware of anything normally stored in a refuse stockpile that's usable by dorfs without a workshop to process the carcass/teeth/hair/bone/shell in (I may well have missed some useful "refuse" in that list). Combining a refuse stockpile with anything else is usually a bad idea because refuse stockpiles accelerates decay.

You are right. I pressed w by accident on the burrow.
I didn't realize it can affect workshops when the alert is not on.
Good to know it does. lol

I've never used workshop burrows myself, but I know you can and that they can cause trouble if you use them incorrectly (such as by mistake/fat fingering). Anyway, good to see you found the issue.
