Multiple Marksdwarf Training
« on: February 14, 2019, 12:13:02 am »

I believe I have found a (albeit somewhat manual) way of getting multiple marksdrwarves to train at the same time.

Assuming that you have everything setup right and have enough bolts as well as multiple archery targets and marksdwarves, do the following:

Create a point (N)
Assign the squad to station at the point.
Wait a few as they gather.
Remove the station (s-a-o)

This seems to break them out of whatever training that is going on and I have seen 3-4 marksdwarves start shooting at a time without issue. This leads me to think that the bug with multiple training has to do with the training activities rather than the military menu setting.

Hope this helps.

My marksdwarves Just Work. They train in their barracks, they shoot at their range (several at once). So long as they have equipment and bolts available (generally not in bins, just in case).

What problems were you having that you had to make a workaround?

Are you using "train 10 minimum"? Check out the first post of this thread. By having multiple "Train 1 minimum" orders for a squad (which the poster shows in the last image), you can force more archery practice and less sparring or demonstrations.

There is something to be said about, if the stakes are as high, maybe reconsider your certitudes. One has to be aggressively allistic to feel entitled to be able to trust. But it won't happen to me, my bit doesn't count etc etc... Just saying, after my recent experiences I couldn't trust the public if I wanted to. People got their risk assessment neurons rotten and replaced with game theory. Folks walk around like fat turkeys taunting the world to slaughter them.

The only real trick with archers is getting them the first 3 or so  levels of marksmanship so that they start reliably using the ranges. Personally I just run green recruits around the map shooting at random wildlife for a bit.
