These are some ideas afte rI realized you cant really do these in international relations.

First up, water trading
So, one of the big challenges with some embarks, of course, is the nonexistence of water within. I think you should be able to request caravans bring you barrels of clean, drinkable water, for your dorfs. Sure, booze is important, but animals and wounded cant drink the stuff. at least, not that I've observed. Being able to buy waterwould solve these problems

Secondly, enhancements to tribute
These enhancements are three fold
1. The ability to demand specific tribute (For example, you could have your mountain dwelling dwarves demand a nearby elven forest retreat to deliver them wood, for beds).

2. Animal tribute.
 The big problem with elves (Aside from all the others), is they never have cool animals for sale. so why not demand they fork up useful beasts?

3.; Worker tribute
This ones the iffiest, but yknow, demanding places export workers is useful, if morally atrocious to dwarves
Hope these havent already been recommended, i just browsed party 1.

quick note as to the water suggestion: I dont think it would solve anything on its own, since i am fairly sure that cattle cant drink from barrels and hospitals need water in buckets, which, in turn, cant be filled from barrels. Its just one of those game mechanic things,where NOT being able to import water is more realistic then having barrels of clean water, that cant be used.

i mean, if such a thing was implimented, sage, I'm sure it would come with such actually working. :P

yeah, but i think what im trying to say is: depending on how the code for these things are, it might just be an easier, more realistic solution not do do it. IIRC the code for buckets and barrels was written ages ago, so changing that and not screwing other game mechanics up in the process is probably the bigger, more time consuming suggestion here.

Im not arguing against your suggestion though, just pointing out what it might entail ;)
