Checked the wiki?

It'd be helpful to know what style and size you're looking for.

Vanilla comes with curses_square_16x16, that's what I use.

So, I just flipped the Graphics option in the init.txt to YES, and everything is square and even in both directions, but now the view is less than half of what I was able to see on screen. I even forced the fullscreen mode to my laptop's res which is 1366x786 and directed the png approproately to curses squares and it actually remained the same, so is there some trick to have the same amount of map on screen as I previously did but with squares?

So, I never realized before, how easy it was to get the tilesets, just having to save those pictures on the wiki into the art folder. I find that 10x10 is a good resolution, the less pixels a tileset uses, the more that displays. I'm chillin' with Potash10x10 as it is mostly vanilla.

The map size is 1:1 with the pixel size, i.e. you switched from 8x12 to 16x16 so now it's 1/2 as tall and 3/4 as wide. That's just how graphics be.

I'm a big fan of MarbleDice and Cooz.
