Creating embark list outside the game?
« on: September 01, 2018, 10:12:06 pm »

Is it possible to create an embark list outside the game that the game can the read?
I want to bring one meat of cost 2¤ from all applicable animals in the game.
The reason I want to set it up outside of the game prior to playing is no make sure I include all possible animals that can exist in the game so I don't have to tinker with it when I'm about to embark.

You'd still have to tweak it prior to embark if materials aren't available to your dwarves. Makes no difference if you make it inside or outside of the game.

And if it's animals which are always available, you only have to make the embark list once, then save it.

I guess it would be possible to make a DFHack script that read what was available and then selected one of each, though. However, you'd probably have to write it yourself.

Yes, using this principle one can share embark lists. LNP includes several by default, ex. this bronze setup:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

They're also available on wiki profile repository.

Is there an easy way to add all meat of cost 2¤ into the embark_profiles.txt without spending hours on looking in the raws?

I went to the raw/objects folder and ran this on an ubuntu terminal:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
and it produced this output
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Then added it and it seemed to work.

There is something to be said about, if the stakes are as high, maybe reconsider your certitudes. One has to be aggressively allistic to feel entitled to be able to trust. But it won't happen to me, my bit doesn't count etc etc... Just saying, after my recent experiences I couldn't trust the public if I wanted to. People got their risk assessment neurons rotten and replaced with game theory. Folks walk around like fat turkeys taunting the world to slaughter them.
