Game Crash

I finish my setup with my dwarfs, their skills and the items I'm bringing; I hit e to embark.  I get the start paragraph to "Strike the Earth".  I've hit ENTER and the game shuts down.  I've tried ESC, same result.  Has something changed to actually get the game to kick off?

What version of DF do you use?
Is your PC powerful enough for DF?
Is it a clean installation of DF?
Do you use any mods or shack scripts?
Do you use Lazy N00b Pack?

Yes to LNP
Yes my PC works the game in fact have another game already saved and playing.
Version 44-12.02, latest LNP release
No other mods
Just updated last week and did not import any prior saves.

Had about 10 crashes but hit ENTER again and it worked.

Are you using TwbT? I have the odd issue of DF crashing on embark every time if my DF window is large (125 * 67 works most of the time, while higher windows crash every time). Mifki couldn't reproduce it, and I haven't heard anything since then.
