Hmm. I would at least like to take advantage of the darkness to scout out the ramparts or even walls with our goblins, and get some construction done unimpeded by sallies or archery. We have eight hours of darkness - four hours to a staging area and two to the ramparts gives us two hours of construction on site, or one if we want to be out of range come daybreak. 16 Goblin units could make a fascine in an hour and then depart before daybreak.


This ~ halves our recruiting units compared to Talion's plan, but gives us the opportunity to prepare ground for launching assaults. Alternatively, 10 Goblins could be sent to each side, enough to build a set of spikes or two.

@Kashyyk - Will skirting the walls in this manner be sufficient for reconnaissance purposes (at that instant) or would the units have to spend time waiting at each location?
- Can the defenders Sally against any Rampart, or just those opposing the gates?

I would ask why fire can burn two men to death without getting hot enough to burn a book, but then I read "INEXTINGUISHABLE RUNNING KAMIKAZE RADIOACTIVE FLAMING ZOMBIE" and realized that logic, reason, and physics are all occupied with crying in the corner right now.

 That is sufficient for reconnaissance. You will have to discover sally range during play.

I don't like the idea of cutting our recruiting down. We should stay back and snowball and keep doing so until we get 100 units per recruitment, as it will only take one more recruitment drive with the Object lessons plan.

We have a plan from Talion, but not everyone agrees with it. I'll hold off for a bit and see if people suggest anything else.

Fortress Decision Point hit

You dispatch your forces and they quickly scatter to do your bidding, the orcs and trolls lighting their way with hastily made torches. The next two hours is strangely quiet now that only you and your advisors are present, but more of the horde will join you soon.

You survey the crude maps of the area made by your scouts, noting the lack of trees in the vicinity of the Staging Areas. If you need more wood, it can only be gathered from the Main Camp.

Finally, the goblins at the staging areas confirm that the fenders have not moved from their current spread out positions.

Sunrise is in six hours.
