((This is my first time NOT using "Play Now!", so I might have forgotten something. Fun.))

So, this is a fort of beaver-people, I purposefully picked a site with a river to dam this thing. I won't be doing too much mining, and beaverpeople are not alcohol-dependent, but they can't defend against enemies too well. Embark!

Oh, and the entire fort will be inside of a huge dam made of wood.

This is the starting spot:

Oh, and I got to go, but if you wish to be... beaver man'ed? Dorfed? I don't know, le tme know.

I'm curious, is there an elevation change in the river to produce flooding, or will you be simulating it by digging out the banks? (Also a thing beavers will do, to make safe and easy pathways for themselves.)

Also I don't know the habits of beaver persons, but the rodent kind don't typically live inside their dams. I'm picturing a big civilian 'lodge' while the 'dam' is the main garrison and fort entrance/trading post. Connected by an underwater tunnel(s), of course. Too bad pathfinding probably won't let you put [SWIMS_INNATE] to good use.

I'm looking forward to reading this one.

Beaver men?

I've modded the files to play as humans/elves/goblins, but I didn't realise this was possible. More info? I'm intrigued, if they're their own civ it gives me some nefarious ideas...

Beavermen... And you're damming a river !

Okay. I only have two questions. Just : how and Why did you come up with this idea ? xD

The community's ideas will never stop surprising me
I love you man.

Ps : beware of floods, they are beavers nightmares !

Copied dorf entity files, made some modifications. Had to remove dorf playability, though.

Oh dam, that's something I haven't seen before. Love the idea.
A beaver man is 3/4 the size of a dwarf, so it would be a good idea to get some mercenaries to do the fighting if any is needed.
Beaver me as a lumberjack and I'll be okay

Legally, the only expletive you're allowed to use in here is damn and variations there of.

That said, I wish you luck. You planning on just straight up blocking it, or making it possible to let the water through again?

It would quite interesting if you could mod the game and allow your beaver-people to eat logs...

Yeah, there's plenty of information out there, but you don't need that information to form an opinion and then defend it to the death.

It would be possible to make a reaction that turns logs into an edible plant that has no seeds and doesn't spawn in the world. I think Masterwork had something like that for fungiwood.
