Can't trade with modded races
« on: May 31, 2018, 05:54:05 am »

I'm having a weird issue with trading. Currently I'm playing as a modded human race and trying to trade with a caravan from an modded elf race. The elf race's entity file is currently exactly the same except for their names. The problem is that it's not showing how much profit the trader is making or how much value the good I've selected are and no matter what the traders say "I won't trade at a loss" even though I've selected more than enough in goods. Any ideas?
Edit: They did finally trade but I had to select everything and only buy one instrument for 2urist

This is probably just because your broker has low Appraisal skill.

Oh, I think you're right. When I setup my broker on embark I forget the appraiser skill. :-[

Most likely, you needed to swap out your broker while the caravan was there. The first dwarf assigned as broker would have gained some appraiser skill (see the first few lines of this wiki article), and the second dwarf assigned as broker was forced to trade without the skill.

There is something to be said about, if the stakes are as high, maybe reconsider your certitudes. One has to be aggressively allistic to feel entitled to be able to trust. But it won't happen to me, my bit doesn't count etc etc... Just saying, after my recent experiences I couldn't trust the public if I wanted to. People got their risk assessment neurons rotten and replaced with game theory. Folks walk around like fat turkeys taunting the world to slaughter them.
