XCOM Arms Race

It's XCOM. Aliens versus Humans, what more could you want. Who cares if the rules are somewhat unfinished, it's not like it's going to spiral out of control and become impossible to manage.

Hats Race:

A fairly standard arms race beginning in the mid-late 1800s, but with a silly gimmick. All weaponry must be mounted on the user's head.

Universe Space Strategic Giant Battles Race

An ambitious Arms Race, utilizing modern multi-dice systems with bell-curved rolls in a sci-fi universe pitting three different teams against one another, each starting with unique special abilities.  A complex five-resource system is used and tracked for each team, along with a pattern-build additional build system.  Ships are designed via hulls and separately-designed components, with power and capacity tracked for each individual ship along with damage, position, armaments, and standing orders.  There are 19 different theatres to fight in, each one with their own balance of resources to collect and unique biomed.  This Arms Race comes with multiple tools to ease construction of ships and track designs, and the best part is the game is super simple and easy to run, probably.

I honestly want this game for some reason now.

Damnit people, this is why I said to keep the truce. Because now everyone's ganging up on the cats.
Also, don't forget to contact your local Eldritch Being(s), so that they can help with our mission to destroy the universe.

Come on, don't be ridiculous. Even as a joke, that's insane.

At least, make the theaters symmetric in some way, to reduce bookkeeping

I abandon Spy Race because I can't find the thread.

I instead launch an AR that's about trying to lose. http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=173625.msg7952317#msg7952317

Faux Arms Race
Shamelessly rip off a more popular arms race due to salt with with the aforementioned arms race. Includes vastly lower writing quality, along side a couple of poorly thought out gimmicks.

Gungeon Race
An arms race based on somewhat popular roguelike Enter the Gungeon. The two sides being King Cannons invaders and the defending forces of the Lich respectively, fighting through each chamber of the Gungeon. Players must design the guns their units will wield, and non-weapon items that will supplement them, alongside designing the units themselves.
Additionally, guns and items come in limited numbers, only enough for a certain number of squads each, however every turn both sides will get one squads worth of a gun and item free for every floor they own. This is usually one of their own designs, but has a chance to be taken from either EtG itself, or their enemies older designs.

They who dare arms race
An arms race where the two sides only design things for the air force starting in the rise of flight (1915). The game has three phases and at the start of each turn (which is a half of a season) they get a certain amount of dice to spend and production points as well. The designs cost 3 dice and result in 6 rolls, 3 judging how much time, progress, and how expensive the project is and 3 judging the effectiveness, cost, and how buggy the final result will be. Designs then are worked on by paying some pp and dice to continue getting closer to finishing it, and you get a prototype enough for one squadron once you reach the half way point. More dice can be added to the start of a design so you have a better chance at a good roll as the highest one is taken for wherever said extra dice is applied.

Revisions only cost dice and only roll one. The production phase is the last phase and where the players assign their squadrons new stuff, buy new squadrons, and tell those squadrons what to do. Each squadron will also have their pilots tracked and they will fight against other tracked pilots in something known to me the gm as dice hell once there are over two hundred pilots until by some miracle one of the players makes a program so I don't have to suffer as much.

The goal of the game isn't just beat your enemy but to make your side as prestigious as possible to get more funding and have the airforce seen as more important, with the game ending when one sides airforce has their leadership replaced or the war ends in one sides victory. Additionally there will be events that happen every few turns that the players can take advantage of, and there will be a third faction there to help with said events.

A quick rundown of the game will also be posted on a April fools joke arms race about making arms races in a vain attempt to gain more players.

Gaming wiki arms race
An arms race where two sides compete to make the best wiki hosting site for games. Both sides are different from each other - one is clearly based off of Gamepedia, while the other is based off of Wikia (now known as Fandom). Tools such as site accessibility, site security, moderation features, and ease of use are critical components.

Hacker Race
An arms race that happens entirely in Cyberspace, between warring hackers. Each team has only a handful of individual hackers, which must be deployed to the different servers (IE, zones) to fight over who controls said servers. Teams use 2d4 to attempt to design both programs for the hackers to fight with and equipment for the hackers to use, as all programs have a memory cost and a runtime cost. Equipment has innate memory, runtime, and firewalls, with memory being the equipment space limitation, while runtime being the resource used in combat to use a program. Lastly, a hacker's firewall score is their health, and if their firewalls are penetrated they get knocked out of battle (and probably have some of their attached equipment melt down.) Each turn each side has a (the same) 1d6 roll that gives them additional money with which to buy and upgrade their hacker's equipment load out.
