I hear people are having problems with hackers again wrecking save files - worth reading up on it and what to do to back up your save. I think I had one once and threw myself off a building pretty much immediately, which at the time wasn't an issue but I can definitely imagine it would be at some parts in the game.

That's only an issue if you pick up a modded item, they cannot get you softbanned otherwise.

Yep, after seeing coverage from folks I trust I'm not paying for them to finally patch the game, much less implement a bunch of dumb shit that's worse than the original+DSFix.

Apparently not - they can hit you with an weapon that gives you souls, which makes the game softban you. There have also been reports of being hit by weapons that give you multiple effects which you're not allowed to have in combination, leading to a softban as well.

I recall stories from the original DS of hackers whose weapons will place hacked items directly into your inventory when they hit you, leading to you being banned.
The original version has a mod to automatically disconnect hackers, of course. :3
