Idea:
Hamsters. Basically our Earth's Phodopus Sungorus, if smarter and albino. Forms tribes, led by shaman. They receive visions regarding a mythical 'surface' by consuming hallucinogenic mushrooms; prone to inta-tribe conflict due to religious wars. Not as technologically advanced as the spiders nor as broadly cooperative as the ants, but makes up for it by being quite big and breeding a lot.

I'll make a new ecosystem for them.

What about crystal caves?  No underground world is complete without them!

They can "grow" rare resources that other species harvest, or even be inhabited by their own strange ecosystem.

Also, what about metallic creatures like the scaly foot gastropod?  They are snails that eat toxic volcanic gases from underwater vents and use the iron sulfide in these gases to grow metallic shells and foot plating.  Truth can be stranger than fiction.

Funny thing: Someone else made an unrelated game named InfiniCave, and it's getting relatively popular. Hey, free advertising, as I'm the first hit on Google!

Here's an announcement: A half-flooded, dark ecosystem. Will be implemented tomorrow.
