Those would be angels. They're randomly generated and all have names like those.

It's actually pretty terrifying to think about having all of your fat melt off into grease because you started sweating too much.

ah, I was pretty sure they were randoms when I couldn't find them on the wiki, but as I've never seen angels before, I didn't know they were angels, follow up question, can angels appear in fortress mode?

He's invited people to come along and experience the journey with him (and help him test it out as he goes along). At the end of the day, I don't think his main goal is to sell Dwarf Fortress, its just to create the best game possible.

was looking through the corpse options

I got too excited and misread you, that was embarrassing...  :-[

to add on to the topic before moving on, you can always try adventure mode to find them and their reside... and bring them back to your fort as reanimates, then have it retire in your fort before any of the fighting begins and come back in fort mode if you want to have or even call it a !!fun!! encounter.

food for though, though it would be cool if angels would attack you if you stole their slab

You CAN embark on top of them, and so encounter them in fortress mode. I believe you need DFHack's embark anywhere option enabled, and you need to find the buggers, as their abodes aren't that large and are not displayed when embarking. If I remember correctly, you can detect that there is something there from the fact that you're blocked from embarking there in vanilla.

It's not hard to make an overlay script for the pre embark region map to display the undisplayed features present there.
