A were-librarian would be fun.  One day a month, he will trash the place.  Then clean up the rest of the month.
A were mon... I mean Ape.

Vaguely related, since I've also been trying to acquire books for my fort's library, and since most of them seem to be written/stored in what used to be a dwarven fortress that was later overrun -- when I send my seven-dwarf squad out on a mission, I give them one book as a specific target, but the others all fill their hands with goodies along the way, too. Because most of the 'artifacts' at that location are books, I can scoop up five or six at a time, along with the odd amulet or large silk shirt that also caught some dwarf's eye. If you've got similar library situations in your world, it might be easier than you could at first expect to collect every title.

I too would love to find a way to restrict libraries.

I'd like to give my Duke his personnal library, with his own self-written books. But I can't.
I'd like to be able to :
- A/ Assign a private library to the dwarves I choose, and only them will use it.
- B/ Choose which books I store in said library.

A/ "can be done" by assigning a zone to the library, which is set to "closed for everyone". The zone assigned would also be a dining room, and the room would be assigned to the dorfs you want.
So you have a meeting hall / (closed) library zone.

With this, the dwarves would go in the library, but don't do any work though...

B/ can be done with dumping books. But if the zone is an active library, then nothing prevents other unwanted books to end up in there.
