Disguised king

If I kill the disguised king will my game end?  Will another one appear (he was easy to spot--15 dwarves, no immigration, I wonder who the new guy is?  I called him Elvis)?

Just curious.

He's not supposed to be disguised that well.  This is a bug that will be fixed.  You don't really have the king and I'm pretty sure that means he won't be replaced.

If you don't have his requirements up, then you don't really have him.

eh?  the king only advertises requirements if he comes because of your forts prosperity and size and other nobles and stuff.  if you hit the adamantium, he just show up on his own disguised as a pesant, and starts making adamantine demands.

i mean, i hear it still works that way.  it used to in 2d, and i havent found adamantine yet in 3d.

A bug in the current version prevents the disguised King from actually showing up when you strike a vein of Hidden Fun Stuff.

And new kings and queens will be elected in the event of the current one's demise.  They will, of course, be elected in another fort, and will then travel to your fortress.

Just make sure that under such circumstances you deal with both the king/queen and his/her consort.  Otherwise your fort will soon be full of queens, and I don't mean those male dwarves who are wearing dresses and thongs.

Krash - many names for a behavior that's as old as humanity ... though FYI not all cross-dressers are queens, or queers, or jolly, or gay, or whatever  :)

[What Kagus AFAIK meant is: If you kill a King, his wife the Queen stays in your fort. You'll then get a new King and a new Queen. If you kill that King too, well, his wife stays, and his successor brings another Queen.]

Anyway, I've had the King's requirements fulfilled for almost a game year now ... even got immigrants, though just a handful, which brought my fortress population to 205, but no King so far.

Will the king arrive even though I'm at 205 pop already?

i actually had a male king and male consort that both wore dresses, back in sigunlokum.  thinking back on it, the ruler may have been called a queen -- but i cant really remember.

im pretty sure it was a bug and not HFS, i seem to remember reporting it and Toady saying that I wasnt the only one with the problem.  funny as hell, though.
