Miraculous recoveries?
« on: February 13, 2007, 06:21:00 pm »

Given the questionable nature of healing and resting in Fortress mode, I must profess grave concerns for Tun Ozormorul, fisherdwarf.  The poor girl had just been relaxing on a bridge, fishing the Autumn days away, when no less than three snakemen set upon her.  Fortunately, she is Strong, and Very Agile, and a Legendary Bone Carver/Master Stone Carver happened to be going by - And I equip all my Legendaries with plate armor, shields, and hammers.

You know, just in case.  Matter of pride.  Et cetera.

Still, poor Tun has been left, er... 'Hardened' as the personal info screen would say.  She no longer has right limbs.  Any right limbs.  And her upper spine is bruised (I think?  That's what brown is, right? Brown bruised, yellow broken, red mangled?) and her lower left arm is busted.  So, I am forced to wonder.

Who thinks she'll pull through?  Who thinks she'll make like Urister Astebber, Trapper, who's still pattering around screaming about something with a mangled hand and missing eye?  Anyone ever have a (humorously) grievously injured dwarf pull a Jesus and come back from the near-dead?

Hmm. I can imagine a dwarf recovering if they were only missing arms, but with a leg missing? I don't know if dwarves missing legs will even leave their beds. I suppose she could crawl everywhere, though. Hang in there, Mrs. Ozormorul!

Truly.  She's one of my better fishers - And fish cleaners.  I'm not quite sure how one could gut fish or even cast a line with one arm and one leg... But, you know, here's hoping.

I have a marksdwarf that (to my knowledge) was shot through the fortifications that he was behind. Got a red arm, and has been bed ridden for the past... what? Five, six years?

I had a dwarf who was missing a leg lay in pain for a year or so trying to recover from some other lighter wounds but being unable to because of falling unconcious so much.

Then one day he had got a mood to take over the butcher shop...

He proceeded to crawl around the fortress for a few weeks until he killed someone and return their corpse to the butchery to make the artifact.

Since he fell unconcious so much it took him about a year to complete the artifact dwarf bone leggings.

He then turned into a legendary bonecrafter and became tough enough to not fall unconcious from his missing leg.

Bad. Ass.

So it sounds like Mrs. Ozormorul's only hope is to come down with a fell mood?

after a battle with some goblins i ended up with a legandary miner(dont ask me how he got outside) that was nearly killed, the result was that everything vital was in the red, and everything non vital was gone, then he somehow crept to a bed, lay there for about 10 years and then trantumed... destroying quite alot of workshops, m dining room, the entire sleeping quarters, several bridges

he died when he destroyed a bridge over the magma and fell in it

dont ask me how he was able to ravage half of the fortress with no limbs and no eyes...

Obviously he crawled by using his mouth instead of hands.
Or maybe he managed to roll on the ground.

And he headbutted everything he wanted to destroy.

But what do I know?
Everything I say should be taken with atleast 1 tsp. of salt, and another liter of Dwarven Wine is recommended.

"I thought it was the size of the others!" said Vanon. "I guess it was just standing further away!"

Vintage Dwarven spite.  I have plenty of cannon-fodder hauler-dwarves... Maybe I'll get lucky.  It'd be entertaining to get a Legendary Whatever crab-walking on the arm and leg of the same side, making my Masterwork Whatevers.

Edit:  Dang.  Gimpy McNolimbs just went melancholic. -Sigh.-  She'll be throwing her honkey self into the river any day now.
