A lesson in hydrodynamics

When digging a channel to cause water flow: FIRST, dig the stairs.  SECOND, dig the channel.

At least, I think that's what my legendary miner was saying.  Couldn't really make it out over the noise.

Doesn't digging channels require the miner to be on the level above? Heh
