Stop Carying things and TRADE! How-to
« on: April 19, 2008, 03:58:00 pm »

In order to get your Trader to get to the Depot without shuffeling every trade item there first, all you have to do is:
1- Make sure he has no jobs enabled
2- Request trader at the depot
3- wait for him to arrive and get the "trading" job
4- Then select items to be brought to the depot

He won't leave his post to pick up items, so you can trade immediately.

Of course, this means that your trader is wasting time in the depot when he could be helping bring things to it. And of course, if he decides to get some food or a drink, all bets are off.

But then you might not get all your goods there on time.

If you have poor managment systems like me.

I start hauling things to the depot as soon as the caravan arrives on the map.
So with 30-50 dwarves free to hauling I usually have completed all hauling tasks till the midsts of the season (well, my list is raher large, so there is a lot of hauling involved, normally around 20 pages of the jobs list are filled with "Bring to trade depot" - jobs   :D
