Is that possible to make poison plants without DFhack?

I want to make plants that kill dwarves when they stand on it or when eat/haul some parts.

I don't know how to make plants give off a substance on contact that'd cause syndromes, but edibles shouldn't be too hard. Alcohol uses an inebriation syndrome to cause its effects, after all.

IIRC you should be able to give the material the plants are made of a syndrome that acts on contact. See here and here

Contact syndromes only trigger with contaminants, like powders and liquids. Picking a plant made of a poisonous material will not poison the picker.

I'm theorycrafting here, correct me if I'm wrong:

Give plant material low melting point (liquid in room temp)
In unpicked state, plant acts as plant, unaffected by state change
When picked, plant becomes item and melts in dwarf's hands
Give contact syndrome to plant
Poisoned dwarves (even better, the contaminant spreads!)

Could also have the melting point be above 10015 urists but below 10067 so that the plant is solid underground but melts on prolonged contact with a dwarf or adjacent magma (untested).
