How to find out map rejection reasons
« on: July 29, 2017, 11:32:47 pm »

I'm trying to gen a world using the PerfectWorldDF utility and am having some trouble. I would like to know the reason my maps keep getting rejected; I didn't see anything in gamelog.txt or errorlog.txt, other than the acknowledgement that the world has started generating. Is there some setting I could use to log map rejections? Pretty much everything else seems to be logged in either of the two aforementioned files.

The closest thing Bay12 has to a flamewar is an argument over philosophy that slowly transitioned to an argument about quantum mechanics.

The trick is to only make predictions semi-seriously.  That way, I don't have a 98% failure rate. I have a 98% sarcasm rate.

Don't recall off the top of my head, but if it's lot at start, it's probably something like you didn't change it to require 8128 high-elevation areas and the perfect world's generated pre-set values not having that many mountains. Disable the min values other than for volcanoes; they're just there to reject worlds.

<DF>\data\init\d_init.txt:[LOG_MAP_REJECTS:NO] -> YES ought to do it...

Huh, I'm getting "no controllable entity definitions available" errors. What do they mean? Worldgen seems to fail right at the moment before civilizations are planted.

I'd say DF can't place any dwarven civs. Happens if there's no available mountain location (all mountains covered by caves, evil/good, or savage), or your world doesn't have any caverns (dorfs rely on cavern crops for existence).
