Changing the fortress name after embark
« on: June 09, 2017, 05:48:34 pm »

It just would make sense. Cities and sites get named after certain geographical circumstances or special events that took place etc...
But you don't really know how the embark will turn out, or what will happen with your fortress.

I concur. My first real fort had a large central keep built entirely of marble, appropriate for a site named Marblehalls . . . which I was only able to do because I'd done a pre-embark, drilled some core samples, found lots of shallow marble, then savescummed & embarked for real. Until/unless we get a MUCH more detailed Embark screen, being able to change the name of the site (and why not the society, too?) would be a real improvement. Besides, what if you name your fort "Citadel never-will-be-overrun-by-goblins" or something like that?

It would also be invaluable when reclaiming existing forts, so we can go from a random name to one that actually has something to do with the site.
