So one of my militia dwarves went into a fey mood.

In all of my fortresses since 40d (and that's a bit of forteresses) I have never seen a military dwarf have a mood. I thought they were exempted from moods ?

He's active too, not off-duty.

I mean, he doesn't have any weapon skill (since he's a novice war miner), so the game may not be detecting him as a military... but still.

Well, not that I'm going to complain. He's going to bump up to Legendary miner and I'll make him my new militia commander. Just, WTF, dwarf fortress.

Yes, they can mood during a short period before they acquire sufficient skill. It's happened to me as well.
