I realise that maybe I should just pull out a staggered keyboard for games, but the dox is just so much more comfortable.

For reference, here's a picture:



I was wondering if anyone else was into obscure keyboards and played DF with it. What does your keyboard layout look like? Did you make a special DF layer? Did you change the game keys? Both?

Edit: Maybe I should mention that the board is fully programmable. As in, I have the source code for the firmware. I've moved keys around a lot. For example, no arrow keys on the home layer. Which also means I could, conceivably, make a specialised layer with all the useful DF keys easily accessible. But I wanted to bounce it off the veterans before committing to so much work.

My laptop keyboard has lost the letter "T", number "5" and one shift, control and command key. They're still physically there, but they don't do anything when you press them, and other keys (especially "L" and "K") are really dodgy and unreliable. I've switched to an external keyboard, attached with USB, and did notice that my DF gameplay had changed as my fingers reach for keys which are subtly further apart or in different locations. I'd love to try one of the crazier keyboards I've seen online, and see if this changes things again.

Thank god the F1->F12 keys are no longer used in DF, I had a problem with that in the past, I think, and having the keyboard light up or the sound go up and down while I was playing was annoying. I remember it was a real problem, but don't really remember when or with what game? DF 2D perhaps? No idea. But yeah, your keyboard would affect your gameplay, I'm sure.
