My Best Fortress ever!
« on: June 26, 2007, 07:27:00 am »

So my miner/mason/smith/jeweler has a royal bedroom and she is very happy, everything in her room has jewels and im planning to move from stone to platinum, gold and silver (How do i get electrum?). And I already have the sherrifs bedrooms underway, traded some platinum bars for lots of meat, havent got a siege, have no casualties, and is bristling with defences, has a bridge built from gold, platinum and silver, has a population of 32 (Could you belive it?) Havent pissed of the chasm dwellers, have lots of masterpieces, is currently building magma traps, has a long corridor filled with traps, has 2 yellows resting in bed, has a food shortage, is currently trying to build an alchemists shop, waiting for the sand that never came, has an underground food farm and tree farm.

you get electrum by getting the dungeon master noble (think thats the right name) then you can make electrum at your forges.

It feels so good when a fortress is running almost like you want it to. I'm currently building a fortress designed to hold as many dwarves as possible. Just up to 40 yet, but its my first fortress able to hold more than 15 dwarves, and still stay practical (considering walking distances, defence, general layout etc)

For some reason though, i never really got the hang of metal-crafting.. Guess I've just never mined out enough of the mountain to get it running like I want to :P

Don't be shy, post your map on http://mkv25.net/dfma/  so we can take a loook  :)

(I feel so spammy each time I ask!)
32 is a nice number, enough to get tasks done but not too overwhelming... more then 40 and I start to care less about my dwarves! and spend less time monitoring them : :...
